Cultural Sensitivity in Design

As someone who creates digital products both professionally and privately, I, like everyone else in the industry, should consider culture in designs.

I came across this topic via the great YouTube videos by Phoebe Yu¹, who, for example, explains why websites in Japan look very chaotic, crowded and supposedly “badly designed” from a European/Western perspective. But they are not - they just take different cultural values, preferences and tastes into account. It’s not just about the visual appearance, but also how processes in digital products are built.

It’s a very exciting topic that I would like to learn more about (and should).
